	add AMD64_FREEBSD
	gradual migration toward the rewrite
	in particular:
	convert if ladders to switches
	allow user to override CM3_TARGET
	(this is somewhat buggy, because there
	are multiple variables -- what if user overrides
	CM3_TARGET=NT386 for a cross build, but not
	CM3_OSTYPE?; the actual rewrite that isn't
	in use yet strives to handle this properly)
