	trim out dead code
	longer term though, if userthreads make a comeback,
	this is actually pretty portable and should be
	factored out e.g. from FreeBSD4 and SOLgnu
	Just that other functions in this file are less portable.
	But see also getcontext/setcontext/makecontext/swapcontext..
