	work on gcc 4.7
	all versions buildable (some other changes not yet commited)
	in 4.7, remove iconv dependency by changing config.h/auto-host.h/Makefile
	after make configure-host
	likewise in 4.7, remove dependeny on system zlib; the dependency is supposed
	to be on the carried zlib, but the Makefile isn't right for Darwin
