processor + kernel/"operating system" + C runtime + C compiler + linker + modula-3 backend + gui runtime
 
Often only the first two vary, but not always.
Most systems have "native" and GNU as I understand for C compiler and linker -- Solaris, AIX, HP-UX.
And then Windows has multiple compilers, linkers, runtimes.
