No, I mean date '+%s', which just gives a raw time-stamp.  date -u +'% 
Y-%m-%d-%H-%M-%S works just fine.

I don't manage this machine so I'd like to avoid installing non- 
standard tools (if only so they don't get tangled up in the  
regression testing which should be done on a "vanilla" platform).
