[M3devel] something broken on Windows

Jay: For the output below, it was taken from an XP machine that gets the HEAD branch.
I did find some differences in the way it "works" by getting the release branch on a different machine (Vista).
Both of these used to work, so not sure what is wrong now.

It's a simple quake syntax error either way.
