This line:
 
 
echo tinderbox: timenow: `date +%s`
 
needs to more like these lines:

  echo "`date '+%Y.%m.%d %H:%M:%S'` -- checkout in progress." 

  echo "`date '+%Y.%m.%d %H:%M:%S'` -- checkout, compile and test run done."

2009.07.25 12:13:54

-bash-3.00$ date '+%m.%d.%y %H:%M:%S'
07.25.09 12:14:33

-bash-3.00$ date +%s
%s
