[M3devel] FW: trimmed down more portable Unix *.i3 files

This is a significant change.
 
 
I have used these files (older versions often) on a number of platforms already: AMD64_{LINUX,FREEBSD}, I386_OPENBSD, PA32_HPUX, incomplete PA64_HPUX, Cygwin, PPC_LINUX, SPARC64_SOLARIS, MIP64_OPENBSD (I don't think I finished that), others maybe.
