Yep, no matter what the problem is, that's my other dashed hope -- that'd it'd either work very little or very much, and not somewhere in between as it does.

It seems a little surprising to see things only 4-aligned below, but I'd have to check the related sizes, if they are 4 then ok.

I also checked the parameter order for calloc.
calloc(n,1) could reasonably provide something unaligned, but calloc(1,n) that I use should be n or "max" aligned, whichever is smaller. I can't claim that I thought of this at the time, maybe I just got lucky.

I'll /try/ to look at this shortly.
Nice that it occurs on NT too. :)

It could be something else entirely, but this an obvious area to double double double check, and if not too difficult, test with it reverted and sort of prove by showing the opposite behavior with the opposite state (which isn't conclusive, but you understand..)

Hm noticably on NT I didn't make this change for dynamically allocated structures, only static ones. That part is also a little bit to be focused on, but /seemingly/ easier to get correct.
