Fyi, I fixed these on Linux/amd64:
  illegal type: 0x17, at m3cg_lineno 4
by replacing all the installs with a release and the rebuilding.
So maybe something off in the upgrade process. Maybe.
But there wasn't an IL/IR/m3cg change.
Not understood.

I can try this on Solaris/PPC_DARWIN.
(PPC_DARWIN has another problem still last I knew.)
