And I might have missed the warning.

Anyway, once I got the case right for ASSERT, I was able to finish 
debugging the program and get it running.  It's a rudimentary program 
that reads several similar text files and produces a variorum edition
-- one that says which lines all share, and which lines are now shared.
It's no limited to two files, like diff, and I can get it to produce 
useful output, unlike the mdiff I got from the FSF website and from a 
debian package.

It still needs cleaning up to be generally useful.  It's rather tuned 
to the particular files I'm dealing with.
