[M3devel] PThread collector problem

I gave up on pthreads long before I ever got the thread tester to work.  I only
ever used user threads for "serious stuff".

It's been a long time, though, and I'd been hoping the issues had been fixed.

Right now all my compilers are in flux but soon I hope to have time to check it
out again.
