I tried that , but it failed, complaining

I guess I'll wait for RC3 to do further testing.
Unless, of course, I've used cm3 -build wrong. In which case the
workaround mentinoed on
http://www.opencm3.net/releng/known-problems.html
needs to be more explicit.
In any case, this will be an obsolete by the time RC3 starts to roll
out. So focus on that rather than fixing the workaround.
