One step further thanks to your hint. Now dynamic linking fails:

    Creating library sysutils.lib and object sysutils.exp
LINK : fatal error LNK1101: incorrect MSPDB80.DLL version; recheck  
installation of this product

As I haven't installed anything on this VM and only have ssh access,
I've got no idea what/how to check. It's just a copy of a standard
VM installation we have as far as I know.
