You know how you go to the Firefox download page and it offers you "only" the right download for your machine, and then has a link for other systems or older versions?
 
 
That'd be nice.
 
 
It's presumably "just a little bit of jscript to sniff the agent string".
 
 
At the least, the list of systems should link down to their files.
But just hiding the whole thing like Firefox et. al. I think is much preferred.
 
 
I finally found simple documentation about building Debian packages, that doesn't get bogged down in all the source building apparatus. So I'll very maybe do something there, like integrate it into make-dist.sh. You don't even need any special tools, just tar, gzip, and ar.
 
 
It's so easy, for a minimal not exactly officially good enough package, I can explain it in a few sentences and it'll take very little code.
