[M3devel] ongoing hardware clearance -- anyone want a working Alpha, Sparcs?

ongoing hardware clearance..

  The hardware clearance is ongoing.
In particular, with mixed feelings, my only
  HPPA/HP-UX/Linux machine is gone.

On the other hand, last night I installed Linux/alpha
and it can soon be in Hudson (albeit with a 9GB hard drive,
which has proven challenging on Linux/sparc).
This is the first I've had an Alpha locally up and running.

 I'm torn:
  keep the machine, running Linux
Linux has the advantage of having Java across
all architectures, so easily put into Hudson
keep the machine, try NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD (6.4), VMS, Tru64.
*BSD generally lack Java except on x86/AMD64.
VMS would be nice to get working. It was on the machine originally.
Tru64 probably redundant with Mika's machine, which we should
    try to get into Hudson.
  Get rid of the machine.
I have 2 other Alphas, physically smaller, don't know yet if they work.
Fourth Alpha already gone, not sure it worked.

Machine is like:
  alphaev5
  266MHz ?
  256MB ?
  9GB
  CD-ROM drive
  noticably slow but working ok
no video out -- using serial console -- a fun
rare little exercise :) (the other hand is
easily implemented as Windows XP laptop running Hyperterm,
   using a USB to serial device, they run about $20;
someday I might try a dedicated serial terminal device)

Linux/sparc might be on the chopping block soon too.
Someone to host that would be nice.
Shipping outside the US is generally too expensive.
The current Hudson node has no takers on ebay yet.

I do have some other Sparcs I haven't used yet, might try them, or
  might get rid of them.
