[M3devel] need help with cm3 problem before I deliver software this week

Olaf:

I tested your version of formsedit on my computer and it works
correctly.

This is a big clue I think. We now have the same program built on two
different machines. One works well and one has a bug. The bug
manifests on both systems using same EXE, so we can rule out a
difference in the computer causing the bug to manifest. Thus, there
must be either (1) a difference in the source code base, OR (2) a
difference in the way the EXE is produced.

If we could compare the two source trees and find them identical, then
the problem could be traced to #2. If the sources differ, the problem
could still be #2, but more likely would be #1.

Would it make sense for me to make a tar gzip file of my cm3 source
tree and send to you for compare? Alternately, you could make the
tarball and send to me for compare with my source tree.

Regards,
Randy

Randy,

indeed your compiled program shows the strange behaviour. I'll add
my version as someone may be able to compare the linked objects and
see which are significantly different.

We can now be sure that it is indeed either a difference in the source
code or a difference in the code my and your compiler generate.
I haven't upgrade my Windows compiler for more than two months.
I'll try an upgrade of the core system later.

Regards,

Olaf
