Probably true.

In-house, I use monotone.  It's distributed.  But what I like about it 
is its utter paranoia about losing data for any reason, even hardware 
failure.  It does a lot of data-base consistency checks, and refuses to 
sync with other incarnations of itself if anything is wrong (thereby 
not spreading corruption).

I seem to remember rumours of an attempt to make svn into a distributed 
system, but I don't recall where.
